Lego Love

Those of you who know my husband Luke,
will know what a huge Lego fan he is.
He has loved Lego all his life and still does.
And now Eli is following suit with just as much passion for all things Lego.

So visiting Lego Land this year on our trip overseas
was a dream come true for both of them.
Luke has been before [when he lived over there]
but to take his kids was a new thrill all together.

I guess I should have realised just how important a part it would be in our lives when this vast Star Wars Lego collection came with Luke when I married him.

And now I am forever stuck building Lego cakes,
swapping tiny, bald, yellow men's hair and pants,
and standing on all those little pieces on the bedroom floor in the dark.

Well, it could be worse I suppose.
Since I do actually like the stuff and
have fond memories of playing for
hours with my brother.
And for the record, I can still make a mean spaceship.

Ten things to do in Paris: Blake Style.

#1: Put on your best dress and find your favourite good shirt.
You must dress for the occasion.

# 2: Find a fancy restaurant and eat some fine french cuisine
with good company.

# 2[a]: At that said restaurant do a spontaneous dance number.

# 3: Enjoy the long evenings with a twilight walk in the city.

# 4: Have a roll in the grass in the park.

# 5: Grab a yummy Gelato, mango, melon or tiramisu flavour.

# 6:  Climb to the top of the Eiffel Tower.

# 7: Have a cuddle in the city of love.

# 8: Take in the cultural sights.

# 8[a]: Be the cultural sight.

# 9: Take in some of the less well known sights.

# 10:  Enjoy some time to relax and be yourself.

Lovely Loch Ness

On our recent holiday overseas, we visited Loch Ness, in Scotland.

We found this great place to stay right on the Loch
and in an interesting and unique form of accomodation.

It is called a "Hobbit" and is a snug little cabin sleeping four.
With a double and two singles and not much else, there was no
need for the heater as we kept each other warm.

This cute log is located in a caravan / camper-van park and
has great facilities for kids. With a wonderful playground that
was safe and entertaining there was plenty to keep them amused.

There are local historic venues to visit and lovely walks around the Loch.
We visited Urquhart Castle and the kids spent hours wandering the ruins and
pretending to be princesses and knights hunting the dungeons for the dragon.

If you are visiting Scotland anytime soon check out the Hobbits and
stay right on Loch Ness. Eli spent  ages on the balcony looking for Nessy!

Travel with kids - My lifesavers

My wonderful, internet connected, nerdy husband found these great kids travel products online a while ago and although I thought at the time they were a good idea,
I did not realise how much easier they make life when you travel with kids.

This is the Trunki - Ride On.

It can take a surprising amount of stuff and the best part is they can be pulled through
airports and train stations and when they want to the kids can use their feet to push.

This is the Trunk - BoostaPack

Its a backpack that is also a boosta seat.
The seat only meets European safety standards but as we were traveling in Europe
this was not an issue for us. However it would still be safer for a young child to sit in
this seat in an emergency than not. And as our regulations have changed so that
kids have to be in a boost a seat til they are 7 years old, I'll be keeping it on hand
for the odd time we need it.

It can take a small load and then neatly folds up to become
the backpack. I must say it is very comfortable to wear,
and great to pack up for a day trip when you are away.

I cannot sing the praises enough of these two products and
it made transferring flights easy and effortless.
Also it was a great head turner - so many people stopped us and
asked where we got them from.
